This hat just slays me. It's a Seventies thing, emanating from San Francisco, made out of old Levis denim and known as a Camp Street hat. I had one from 1974 until it disintegrated from 20 years use. Babs wearing one above, as pictured on the cover of her 1971 Barbra Joan Streisand LP. produced by Richard Perry and full of torch songs, I loved that album as well.

  1. It is a great hat - and a great photo. Brings back memories of clomping into see The Way We Were with my bff in our cork wedges and flares. Mum asking afterwards if it was age appropriate - we were 11 and 12 - "Oh yes" we blithely lied....too late anyway to do anything about it....

  3. oh Alex - I remember going to see TWWW in it's first week of release and when Redford appeared, there was a simultaneous intake of breath by the entire audience. Compared to these days, there was nothing onscreen to corrupt young teens.

Tony I think 'stash' is the key part of your comment, being a Seventies fashion n all.
    Hey man where's my stash?

  4. I think that it may have been a Theodore Bikel, Fiddler on the roof thing that later got appropriated by Ringo.
